We believe decaf drinkers deserve the same great coffee experience as everyone else. That’s why we’re proud to offer every Joyground Coffee variety, including our flavored blends, with a decaffeinated option.

Not-so-fun-fact: Most decaf coffee on the market is made using a chemical process that involves methylene chloride, a solvent that strips caffeine from the bean. While legal in the United States in trace amounts, this chemical has been at the center of health concerns for years. It's still used by many popular brands because it’s cheap, quick and efficient.

But that’s not how we do things at Joyground  Coffee. We use the Swiss Water Process, which relies on pure water and time (not chemicals!) to remove caffeine. Here’s how it works:

  • The green (unroasted) coffee beans are soaked in clean water.
  • Through a carbon filtration system, caffeine is removed while flavor-rich compounds are preserved.
  • The process is slow, gentle, and entirely chemical-free.

No shortcuts. No weird residues. Just decaf coffee that tastes like it should.

Coffee processed this way retains more of its original character and nuance. When you pair that with our air-roasting method and small-batch approach, the result is decaf that’s full of flavor—not flat or bitter like so many others.
